The Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015 is still on and waxing stronger. As the show runs its course more wonderful and

we saw on the opening day.

As we
all know the wedding season is here, that period of the year that we have so
many nuptials in the air. At the just concluded Bridal Fashion Week which kicked
off last week in New York, we were left crushing on a number of collections
showcased. Most prominent were designs from Monique Lhuillier, the popular Oscar
De La Renta, and America-Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera.
Here are
some pictures of the collections showcased, and please be warned they might

This collection experimented with classic
contemporary silhouettes including a-line, mermaid and ball gowns, and
unusual colours and playful detailing make for modern, fun and sexy
dresses.
Abeke Makeovers revealed a unique, inspired collection of ready
to wear geles, Oriki, modeled by Nigerian fashion
designer Toju Foyeh.
The collection features five
head wraps which fasten with a velcro strap, inspired by music, fashion
and reality style, with each gele style given a a unique Yoruba name with
a beautiful meaning.
Classic colours and creative
styles make for an eye catching, not to mention innovative, collection. So

On the final day of Paris
Fashion Week, Chanel had his audience embark on a fashion journey at
the Grand Palais which was transformed into a life-size Chanel Airlines
terminal.
Guests handed over retro-style plane
tickets before passing through security and into a dazzling all-white departure
lounge, complete with pilots, branded luggage trolleys and check-in
desks rows of terminal seating for guests, a ticket booth, numbered gates,
a flight board, and had models walking down the “runway” dragging roller
luggage.
The atmosphere looked incredible even
to someone a thousands of kilometers away, so I can only imagine how real it
felt. Of course the Chanel show wasn’t complete without loads of celebrity
sightings and this time it had people like Anna Wintour, tennis player Maria
Sharapova, Cara Delevingne, Kris Jenner, Lewis Hamilton, Janelle Monae among
others.

Hello everyone, hope you all my Naija
peeps had a great Independence Day celebration yesterday. Well while we were
all celebrating, Tinsel had its maiden charity ball yesterday, at the
Oriental Hotel, Lagos. The event was to raise money for the Heart of Gold
Hospice & Shelter for Abused Women & Children.
The inaugural event was a huge success. Along
with that, a couple of Nigerian celebs graced the occasion, and they all looked
fabulous in the white and black dress code for the night. So here are some

Today let’s talk about some amazing
fruits that are really great for your skin. You probably have some of them in

Womenswear label Funke Adepoju,
formerly called Phunk Afrique, released their second collection, for the year.
A Very Floral Dream promises lots of florals and while it
does deliver, it does so in a not so predictable way. Designer Funke
Adepoju explains that she was inspired by her love for all things
floral which translates here as laser cut fabric and bright colours and
not the prints one might expect. The cuts resemble petals while red, orange and
pink call to mind bright blooms. Paler hues and metallic accents also feature
with brighter shades making the cut outs pop.
The brand will
showcase its Spring/Summer collection at the upcoming Lagos Fashion

You’re tired of the one lipstick
trend? Well try Ombre. The Ombre lips trend is back, we remember back then in
the 90's when our older sisters, mum and aunts used to rock this lippy, some of
us actually did do it back then, it's back in a more improvised and sexier way.
"Ombre" means fade. Ombre lips are two or more lipstick colours or
shades blended so that they fade into one another.
What you would need to achieve this:
Lip liner.
Lip gloss or Lip stick.
Note: The shade used as lip
liner needs to be darker that the lip-gloss/lipstick shade.
Step 1:
Line your lips with the darker colour
of your choice.
Step 2:
Apply the lighter colour of your
choice to the centre of your lips.
Step 3:
Pat your lips together to blend the colours.
Be careful when using black lip liner,
be sure to blend in well so you don't end up looking scary.

their latest collection dubbed Urbanity.
The creative director explains that the Daltimore Collections
was borne out of “the need to create timeless pieces that could be viewed as
both comfortable and stylish.”
They proved these
points with their Urbanity lookbook which features their androgynous pieces
which are a fusion of modern, urban style and traditional materials
and culture for an eclectic feel.
The pieces,
which draw on the by the native Dashikit, feature checkered prints
and stripes, bold colours with embroidered necklines and pockets etc.

Just last month numerous African
labels showcased their 2015 collections at the Africa Fashion Week London 2015
which took place at the Olympia Kensington in London.
The collections featured a variety of
brand signatures, from Ankara print designs, teal and white palette in a blend
of linen, silk and the bold colourful Ankara print fabrics. Other styles
present at the fashion event included, shifts dresses, skater gowns, halter
neck maxi dresses, flared pants, etc.
