Womenswear label Funke Adepoju, formerly called Phunk Afrique, released their second collection, for the year.

A Very Floral Dream promises lots of florals and while it does deliver, it does so in a not so predictable way. Designer Funke Adepoju explains that she was inspired by her love for all things floral which translates here as laser cut fabric and bright colours and not the prints one might expect. The cuts resemble petals while red, orange and pink call to mind bright blooms. Paler hues and metallic accents also feature with brighter shades making the cut outs pop.

You’re tired of the one lipstick trend? Well try Ombre. The Ombre lips trend is back, we remember back then in the 90's when our older sisters, mum and aunts used to rock this lippy, some of us actually did do it back then, it's back in a more improvised and sexier way. "Ombre" means fade. Ombre lips are two or more lipstick colours or shades blended so that they fade into one another.

What you would need to achieve this:

Lip liner.

Lip gloss or Lip stick.

Note: The shade used as lip liner needs to be darker that the lip-gloss/lipstick shade.

Step 1:

Line your lips with the darker colour of your choice.

Step 2:

Apply the lighter colour of your choice to the centre of your lips.

Step 3:

Pat your lips together to blend the colours.

Be careful when using black lip liner, be sure to blend in well so you don't end up looking scary.

New label Daltimore Collections debuted their latest collection dubbed Urbanity.

The creative director explains that the Daltimore Collections was borne out of “the need to create timeless pieces that could be viewed as both comfortable and stylish.”

They proved these points with their Urbanity lookbook which features their androgynous pieces which are a fusion of modern, urban style and traditional materials and culture for an eclectic feel.

The pieces, which draw on the by the native Dashikit, feature checkered prints and stripes, bold colours with embroidered necklines and pockets etc.

Just last month numerous African labels showcased their 2015 collections at the Africa Fashion Week London 2015 which took place at the Olympia Kensington in London.

The collections featured a variety of brand signatures, from Ankara print designs, teal and white palette in a blend of linen, silk and the bold colourful Ankara print fabrics. Other styles present at the fashion event included, shifts dresses, skater gowns, halter neck maxi dresses, flared pants, etc.
