FIVE HAIRSTYLES EVERY NIGERIAN LADY SHOULD TRY AT LEAST ONCE

There's a saying that a woman's hair is her crowning glory. That's why women devote such time and care to their hair.

For the average Nigerian and black girl in general, hair care is even more of a challenge owing to the fact that the texture of our hair requires more care and luxury to really thrive. The good thing about this is that we have a wide range of hairstyles to explore and tryout to get a desired look whenever we want.

For this reason, here are 5 hairstyles I think every Nigerian and black girl should try at least once in her lifetime.

The Fringe:
Fringes are great for one thing - they instantly create this sophisticated, chic look. It also works for virtually any face shape with just a tweak in length or volume to suit the face type. You can make things interesting by making the back of the hair somewhat wavy like Olivia Pope from Scandal or you can simply go for the straight weave Naomi Campbell and finally it can be a short fringed do like Rihanna in her 'Shut up and drive' video. Just be sure to understand your face shape and go with the style that most suites you.

Short Razor Cut:
Think Halle Berry or Rihanna in 'Take a bow'. Short do's are particularly convenient for our tropical weather because there's nothing sticking to your neck or face mostly. They're also very chic especially when you get the right style for the shape of your face. Short do's can also be tricky to pull of so it's important you understand your face shape and work accordingly.

Bohemian Curls:
I love the bohemian curls for a bunch of reasons; they're easy to wear, requiring no fuss and it also instantly lends the Boho chic look to its wearer. There's also no question of face shape with this hairstyle as it looks good on everyone. Give it a shot today.

Braids:
What's not to love about braids? It’s versatile, convenient and cheap, win, win all the way. Whether its box braids, kinky braids or the Ghana weaving variety, braids are a winner any day.

The Bob:
Be it chin length or the long bob, the bob is a very stylish hair do. Once again, face shape comes to play here, so be sure to work around it so it sits well with your face shape.
